An Electric Smart Cities Expo

The Smart City World Congress Expo 2023 was an electrifying event that showcased a remarkable array of innovations and ideas, all aimed at making our urban environments smarter, more sustainable, and more liveable. Below are some of the most outstanding exhibitions that left a lasting impression on Neil & I as attendees:

1) H-Bar, Puzzle X

Situated in the corner of Puzzle X, a crafty little bar appeared adorned by scientists with questionable intentions. Serving everything from Vodka infused with Meteorite and Rock Cubed (Salt, on Chalk, on Ice), the amusing brains behind the bar were some of the most extraordinary people we met at the event. Kudos Puzzle X on the inclusion, be sure to watch this space…

2) Me, Tomorrow.Mobility

Too Soon? I thought I did a great speech on the Impact AI will have on the Future of our Cities…

Check it out here when the videos go live!

3) Unity AI, Microsoft

It takes a keen eye to see, but once you have seen it, it becomes impossible to miss…

Unity, partnered by Microsoft, was running almost 90% of the Audio Visual Animations and Exhibitions at the event by my note. Perhaps more. In our opinion the newly announced AI Plugins look incredible!

4) Smart Dublin & EIT Urban Mobility

Last, but most certainly not least, are our partners and hosts Smart Dublin & EIT Urban Mobility. Both groups were fantastic and we must extend A Big Thank You to Jamie, Nicola, Kristy and all of their teams of support. We had a wonderful time and look forward to sharing the stand with you all again next year!

What We’re Excited About for Tomorrow.Mobility 2024…

AI and IoT for City Administration

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) in urban governance were key themes of this year’s event. Solutions for smart traffic management, waste collection, and public safety using AI and IoT technologies demonstrated how data-driven approaches can enhance city administration efficiency. Inclusive Urban Planning

The emphasis on inclusive urban design to make cities accessible for all was a critical aspect of the Expo. Innovations in this field included adaptive infrastructure for people with disabilities, age-friendly city designs, and community-centric urban planning approaches. We’re excited to see inclusiveness strategies coming to our cities and partners.

5G and Digital Connectivity

The integration of 5G technology in urban settings was another major area of focus. Exhibitions showcased how 5G could revolutionize everything from telemedicine to public transportation systems, offering higher speeds and more reliable connections. We’ll stick to NB-IoT for now, but it’s incredible to see what’s in store for the future.

Smart Dublin Ring Buoy Demo

Finally, to all of the speakers who I know put in weeks of work to make this event a success, thank you for sharing the stage and your incredible insight to the problems facing us all now in the pursuit of designing the Smart Cities of Tomorrow.

See you all next year,

Neil & Ken
